ICS for Samsung Galaxy S2

ICS... Ice cream sandwich, where are you? The below announcement has been out since Mar 2012...

"Samsung offers Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for GALAXY S II

We're thrilled to announce that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available to GALAXY S II users in the European countries including Poland, Hungary and Sweden, as well as Korea today, and gradually roll out to other markets.

ICS for GALAXY Note, GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus, 7.7, 8.9, 8.9 LTE and 10.1 will follow soon.

In addition, we'll also offer Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrades for GALAXY S, GALAXY Tab 7", GALAXY S Plus, GALAXY S SCL (Super Clear LCD) and GALAXY W from end March. The firmware upgrades for GALAXY S, for example, include Face Unlock, Snapshot, Photo Editor, and others.

The availability and scheduling of the software update and specific models upgradeable to Android 4.0 will vary by market and wireless carriers' requirements."

When will the official ICS update for Singapore users of the Galaxy S2 be? Many many users are eagerly awaiting the update and expectations had to be updated to Q2 2012 recently.

I, for one, have been checking for the ICS updates through both the phone interface and Samsung Kies rather frequently but have been disappointed repeatedly.

I am not yet desperate enough to try my hands at flashing a custom ROM from XDA and resolve its accompanying issues. Hope that Samsung does push out ICS for the SGS2 in Singapore very very soon.

We share the same sentiments.
I too am checking for a ICS update for my SII frequently, always hoping to see other prompts then "No software updates" or "This is the latest firmware".

Guess our luck here ain't so good here. But no matter what, let's continue to be patient and continue the wait. Good things are worth the wait right ;-)

Cheers!

ICS is has been rolled out for Singtel Samsung Galaxy SII (or being in-the-process of rolling out to some other Spore telecoms).

Plug your SII to Samsung Kies these days and you should be able get the upgrade ;-)
