Poor Battery Life On Android Devices?

I have been hearing a number of complaints that the battery drain on Android phones is very high, that juice runs out much faster than an iPhone. However, there is something that can be done to address the issue with no money being spent.

Run the phone till it is left with minimal battery, maybe 1-2%, indicated and recharge it back to 100%. Do this two or three times and the battery life of the Android device magically increases.

This is something to do with the internal battery calibration. Applies for new phones, OS upgrades from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), etc.

Verified to help on my Samsung Galaxy S2 upgraded to ICS as well as a number of other Android mobile phone.
