Ribena's Vitamin C Content

After drinking Ribena for so many years, it is surprising to hear about GlaxoSmithKline being hauled to court for misleading advertising. Ribena actually contained almost no vitamin C! What is more surprising is that this was in fact discovered by two 14 year olds who tested the children's drink against advertising claims that the blackcurrants in Ribena have four times the vitamin C of oranges. Instead, the two found the syrup-based drink contained almost no trace of vitamin C.

Better take advertising and product claims with a huge pinch of salt in future. There needs to be stronger enforcement on such misleading advertising and companies that engage in such actions must be severely penalised if they have done so knowingly.
